Your Gift
Your gift makes a difference!
The Calgary Public Library has been inspiring life stories since 1912. Each year, more than 5.5 million people enter the Calgary Public Library, leaving richer than before.
The Calgary Public Library Foundation raises funds to help the Calgary Public Library provide outstanding library services to the community. The funds raised by the foundation through the generosity of our donors do not replace the Library's core funding, but rather enhance the special programs and services that the Library can provide. With your investment, together, we can help place knowledge, information, programs, and services within reach of all Calgarians.
Foundation Priorities
Our current priorities are to raise support for the construction of a new Central Library, materials and programs. Great cities are defined by the ability of all who live there to access information, knowledge and support to enrich their lives and personal well being. A strong public library system provides the community with a solid foundation for the future.
The Building Fund
By supporting the Building Fund, your donation will help support the New Central Library and help bring a Library to those communities not yet served by Calgary Public Library. This investment helps to extend the Library and its vital services throughout our ever growing city.
The Collections Fund
It’s vital that the Calgary Public Library stay current with today’s fast-paced, ever-changing world of information. But over the past few years, the cost of books and materials has increased by more than 65%, while the Library’s budget has risen by only about 6%. That’s why funding for library collections is so important.
Your generous donation will help buy much needed new books and materials for children, adults, and special needs customers.
You may choose to direct your donation to:
- where it’s needed most;
- purchase books and materials;
- purchase videos and CDs;
- purchase Special Needs materials, such as large print or talking books;
- purchase children’s books and materials; and
- support a specialized collection, such as a selection of parenting or career books.
Your gift is tax deductible
The Calgary Public Library Foundation is a registered charity, separate from the Calgary Public Library itself. Your donation to the Calgary Public Library will enrich the lives of people in our community for many years to come and help ensure that Calgary continues to be a great city.
We will honor your gift with a tax receipt and recognition within our family of community supporters.
